From Hardship to Home: A Journey to Strength and Stability

Matt and Kristine have been married nearly 8 years, and John has been a longtime friend who has stood by their side through life’s challenges. Together, the three made the courageous decision to break free from drug addiction and have vowed to continue their journey of sobriety and building a brighter future.
Earlier this year, they applied to Habitat for Humanity and were chosen to partner with us on the construction of a three-bedroom home in Marble. This opportunity marks a turning point in their lives, offering stability and hope after years of hardship.

They are working hard to create a new chapter. Matt and Kristine both work at Walmart, while John is employed at McDonald’s. Beyond their jobs, they are setting personal goals: Matt hopes to return to school to become either a baker or a welder, and John is determined to finish his GED. Kristine looks forward to settling into their new home, where she can finally furnish rooms with real beds, instead of sleeping on air mattresses in their apartment. Once settled, the trio dreams of returning to the simple joys of fishing, camping, and swimming once they are settled.

Most importantly, they are committed to continuing their sobriety together, building not just a house but a safe, supportive environment where they can thrive.

We are proud to walk alongside Matt, Kristine, and John as they build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Their story is a powerful reminder that with determination, community support, and a safe place to call home, families can transform their futures. A donation of your time or finances can help this family continue their journey to self-sufficiency.
