Volunteering at a Build Site

We always need volunteers to help us build homes with partner families. Construction volunteers help with the various tasks that go into the construction of a house, including framing, roofing, drywall, painting, and siding. Volunteering at a build site is fun and rewarding-it's a great way to meet people in your community and learn a new skill.

If you'd like to volunteer at a build site please fill out the form below. You can volunteer on just one day, or volunteer on a recurring schedule. All volunteers need to sign a liability waiver. You can download and print the waiver, and either scan it and upload it onto the form or bring it with you on your volunteer day. If you're unable to print the waiver, we'll have a copy for you to sign at the build site. Corporate and other volunteer groups are welcome to sign up! We need volunteers most weekdays from June through December.

You don't need to commit to anything right now. Let us know when you're available and we'll see how we can best fit you into our build schedule.
Sometimes we do Faith Builds, in which church members volunteer to help us build a house, so we record those volunteer hours specifically. Habitat welcomes everyone regardless of religious beliefs, so don't worry if you're not a member!
    Max file size: 20MB
The liability waiver can be downloaded above. If you can't print it now, you can sign it in person on the day you volunteer.
You are more than welcome to sign up for more than one shift! Many of our volunteers work from 9-3, with a break for lunch.
You don't need any construction skills to volunteer. We'll teach you! If you do have specific skills, though, we might schedule you on a day that we can utilize those skills.

Build Site Volunteer FAQs
Do I need to sign up to volunteer?
Yes, volunteers do need to sign up in advance, so we know how many people to expect. Check out our events calendar to see our build days. To sign up, fill out the form above, or contact our volunteer coordinator.
What should I wear on a build day?
Wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather and for the task you'll be working on. For safety purposes we do not allow open-toed shoes. Sunscreen is also recommended if you're working outside. You're working on a construction site, so you will get dirty!
What should I bring?
Bring safety glasses and gloves if you have them. If you don't have glasses or gloves, they will be provided. If you're working outside you may want to bring sunscreen and/or a water bottle.
What should I expect on a build day?
Build day schedules vary, but we generally start building at about 9:00 a.m. (we prefer that volunteers come 10 minutes early to check in) and end around 3:00 p.m. Expect to stay busy, learn new things, and have fun! Building with Habitat is a great way to learn new skills and meet new people.
What if I've never done construction before?
No construction experience is required! You will be working with a team, and the Project Manager will mentor you and teach you everything you need to know.
What if I have previous construction experience?
Volunteers with construction experience can act as Crew Leaders, leading and teaching groups of volunteers. If you're interested in being a crew leader, contact our volunteer coordinator or mention your construction experience in the volunteer form.
How old do I have to be to volunteer?
Construction volunteers need to be at least 18 years old, since most of our work involves using power tools and ladders. Occasionally we do have opportunities for younger volunteers to help us with things like painting and landscaping. If you're younger than 18, contact our volunteer coordinator to find out when we might have something for you to do.
