What is the deconstruction program?
Our deconstruction program allows us to salvage materials from buildings that are being renovated or demolished. We sell these materials in our ReStore, and like everything else we sell in the ReStore, the proceeds help finance our mission to provide decent, affordable housing in Itasca County. If you are renovating a house or cabin or tearing down a building and choose to donate the used materials to the ReStore, a crew of Habitat staff and volunteers will help with the deconstruction process and haul the materials away for you. Taking part in our deconstruction program is a convenient way to get rid of unwanted materials and help your community.
Why sign up for deconstruction?
- It's easy! We do most of the work for you, so you don't have to worry about disposing of materials yourself, or paying someone else to take care of them.
- It reduces waste! We'll take anything that we can sell in the ReStore, diverting those materials from ending up in landfills.
- It helps your community! Funds from materials sold in the ReStore go towards building homes for families in need in your community.
